1st September -- Coniston, Lake District | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
After a good run of fairly dry weather it was a bit wet especially for the A's and B's but all walks completed and asking around all had a good day out. | |||||
The A walk climbed up the Old Man of Coniston returning via Goat's Water and Torver Beck, finishing on the Cumbrian Way along Coniston Water | |||||

The B walk took the Cumbrian Way from Coniston to Tarn Hows and made a circuit of the tarns before dropping drop down to Yew Tree Tarn where we had a wet picnic stop. Then up to Ivy Crag on Holme Fell, down again to Holme Ground and Tilberthwaite where we took the track along the foot of Yewdale Fell and back to Coniston. | |||||

The C walk came in two versions: both used the disused railway line from Coniston to Torver, returning along the lakeside path next to Coniston Water. From Torver the group split, one group using a longer section of the lakeside path. | |||||
